Biography

Lilliane Rudabet Gloria Elsveta Sobieski, was born on 10th June, 1983, in New York City. The very talented actress has a rich mixture of Polish and French heritages. Her father, Jean Sobieski, a painter and a writer, has roots in the Polish royalty and lives in France. Her mother Elizabeth Sobieski is also a writer. Leelee grew up in Manhattan, but also spent a lot of time with her father in France.

Leelee started her great career when a casting director asked her to audition, while she was attending New York City School. That audition did not go very well because she didn’t have any prior experience. She enrolled for acting lessons and acquired her fantastic acting skills. She started featuring in commercials and soon got screen parts as a guest in TV shows like Grace Under Fire.

Leelee’s first feature film was Jungle 2 Jungle, which was released in 1997. She starred alongside Tim Allen and Martin Short. Her career moved to higher heights in 1998, when she starred in the film ‘A Soldier’s daughter Never Cries’. The actress also had a major role in the film ‘Deep Impact’, which saw her rise to stardom.

Some of the films in which the actress has featured in include ‘Joan of Arc’ for which she received an Emmy and Golden globe nomination. She is the youngest person who has ever played the role of Joan of Arc in a movie. In the film ‘Never been kissed’, Leelee starred alongside Drew Barrymore. Other films that she has featured in include, ‘My First mister’ and the TV mini-series, Uprising.

Leelee has been involved in a relationship with director Frank Flower and also Sean Lennon. In 2008, she had a romantic relationship with Mathew Davis, her co-star in ‘Finding Bliss’, but the relationship didn’t work out. She is currently dating Adam Kimmel, who is a menswear designer. They have announced their engagement and are expecting their first child.

Leelee is fluent in French, due to her French heritage and enjoys painting, just like her father. She also enjoys writing poetry, horseback riding and collects key chains as a hobby. The actress is also an expert in martial arts and has a somewhat strange hobby of collecting hair from fellow actors starring with her in movies. Tom cruise refused to indulge this hobby when they filmed “’Eyes Wide Shut’!

The tall blue-eyed beauty aspires to be a screenwriter and a director someday, but she says that she’ll also continue with her painting and writing because she enjoys it. Most people think Leelee and Helen Hunt are sisters because of their strong resemblance. As impossible as it may seem, the two are not in any way related!
